Ron Melchiore

Ron Melchiore is the author of Off Grid and Free: My Path to the Wilderness. An avid outdoorsman, homesteader, and off-grid enthusiast, he has spent almost four decades unplugged from the grid, pursuing a self-sufficient lifestyle. Some of his adventures include successfully winter thru hiking the 2,100+ mile Appalachian Trail, bicycling across the United States, surviving forest fires, and being touched by “Gentle Ben”. Published in Backhome Magazine, Small Farmer’s Journal, Countryside, Small Stock Journal, and Mother Earth News, Ron and his wife were also interviewed for a book and filmed for the documentary Life Off Grid, about off-grid Canadians. They recently moved from the Saskatchewan wilderness to a new off-grid homestead in Nova Scotia.
